What is the last day I can paint an item to get it back for Christmas? |
Our last day to paint Christmas pieces is Tuesday, December 21st. We will try our hardest to complete pieces painted after this date but we can't make any guarantees. |
Do I need an appointment? |
No, you can come to Playful Potter anytime to play! Check the calendar for specials, events and classes.
|
When are you open? |
We are open 7 days a week. Monday through Saturday from 10am-8:30pm and Sunday from 12-5pm. We always have a last seating and pick up one hour before closing. If no one is here painting we will close early. On rare occasions, we may close early for a private party or event. Check our calendar and our studio voicemail for any changes to our hours.
We are always closed the following days:
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Father's Day, July 4. |
Are pieces safe for the dishwasher or microwave? |
We recommend you treat all your handpainted works of art like fine china by handwashing and not using the microwave. The pieces are in the kiln for over 24 hours and used to a slow heat up and an even slower cool down. The quick change in temperature from the dishwasher and microwave can damage your creation. |
Do your products contain lead? |
The only products used at Playful Potter are certified non-toxic. Each bottle contains a non-toxic label that shows you it is safe for you and your children. All of our glazes used by staff to finish your pieces are also non-toxic and contain no added lead. |
Are pieces safe to eat off of? |
Yes! All of our pieces are dinnerware safe. |
Do the paints wash out of clothes? |
A stain remover like shout or spray and wash should remove paint from your clothes. |
I can't paint! I'm not artistic! Can you help me? |
Of course! We have lots of samples to copy, stamps, stencils, books with pictures and ideas as well as the most helpful staff in Northern Nevada! We also have professional artists that can paint pieces for you like platters, wall murals, tile murals and even custom toilets and sinks! |
What if I just want to help my child paint a piece? |
Art helps children to develop eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills and self confidence! We at Playful Potter like to encourage children to create their own works of art while parents look on. Our pricing is per person not per piece and we encourage everyone who visits Playful Potter to create their own masterpiece! |
I haven't finished painting my masterpiece but I have to leave. What do I do? |
We will be happy to write down the colors you are working with and wrap your piece so you can bring it back next time. It is only one 1/2 price studio fee to finish painting. |
Can I work with wet clay at Playful Potter? |
We offer wet clay with reservations for clay play classes and hand/footprint impressions. Due to studio space limitations, we do not offer wheel throwing. We highly recommend classes at Truckee Meadows Community College for wet clay classes and wheel throwing. |
I made a piece at home. Can I bring it to you for firing? |
Clay is a natural material that can contain hazardous materials. All products at Playful Potter are non-toxic and tested to be compatible with our paints and glazes. Because of risks to your pieces, our kilns, other customer's pieces and the health of our staff, we only fire pieces purchased at Playful Potter. |
Can I bring food or drink with me to enjoy while painting? |
Definitely! We also carry a variety of snacks and drinks including candy, chips, popsicles, ice cream, hot cider, hot chocolate and liquid salvation water. |
Can I drop my child off to paint alone at Playful Potter? |
The safety of your children is our highest priority. Therefore, unless your child is registered for a class/event or over the age of 13, we request they have supervision. |
Can I use images, copy or layout off this website? |
Only with permission. All images, text, layout and designs are protected by copyright law. Our staff and professional painters work very hard and we request you ask permission before copying a piece, text or using an image from this site. |
