Class Overview:

Embark on a creative journey with our Beginner 4-Week Pottery Wheel Class! Designed for those new to the pottery wheel, or those trying to get back into throwing. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of throwing clay. Over four weeks, you'll learn fundamental techniques, explore various forms, and create your own unique pieces.

Class Schedule:

- Week 1: Introduction to the Pottery Wheel

- Overview of pottery tools and materials

- Demonstration of wheel setup and basic throwing techniques

- Hands-on practice centering clay and creating simple cylinder shapes

- Week 2: Shaping and Trimming

- Introduction to shaping techniques for bowls and mugs

- Trimming and refining your pieces

- Understanding the importance of even walls and symmetry

- Week 3: Advanced Forms and Handles

- Creating more complex forms such as vases and pitchers

- Techniques for attaching handles to mugs and pitchers

- Troubleshooting common issues and perfecting your skills

-Week 4 Final Glazing and Finishing

- Basics of glazing: types, techniques, and safety

- Applying glaze to your bisque-fired pieces

- Tips for achieving desired effects and textures

What You’ll Learn:

- Proper wheel throwing techniques and body positioning

- How to center, open, and pull up the clay to form basic shapes

- Trimming and refining techniques for a professional finish

- Basics of glazing and surface decoration

Class Size:

To ensure personalized instruction and ample wheel time, class size is limited to 4 people

Cost:

$225 For 4 weeks. Includes open studio time one day per week.
